Digital Storytelling Challenge

This week I watched Kaitlin, Daren, Lauryn, Mariah, Krysta, and Carol's video blogs. I am really excited about this project and using it in the classroom. I feel this is a great way for students to express themselves creatively! There are so many possibilities for how we can use this in our classroom. Students would have no problem finding pictures or coming up with ideas but I think there could be challenges that are presented. I know I for one had some problems with uploading my pictures, I could see students having similar issues and not being fully aware of all the options available. To make sure this didn't take place and that each student would feel successful, I would carefully outline the expectations and go through step by step how to use the program.

Importance of TPACK

TPACK is a way of balancing three types of knowledge into the classroom. There is technology knowledge, content knowledge, and pedagogical knowledge. A teacher needs to be aware of this idea so that they can teach more effectively. By being efficient in all three areas a teacher increases their success and the knowledge that is presented to the students. This is a very unique was of reminding teachers that there are many different ways to integrate their curriculum and to present knowledge.

Internet communications project

This assignment was challenging for me but with additional help I was able to learn a lot. Probably what I found the most useful was the feeling of success I achieved. At the beginning I felt very overwhelmed and out of my element, but I was able to learn a lot of great skills that will help me in the future and in my classroom. I am glad to see that while there may be a lot to learn it is totally possible and I am beginning to see the benefits that using technology in my classroom can have for my students. I learned that its ok to be outside your comfort zone and to not make excuses and limit the experience for your students because of your anxieties.

My Technology Experience

I have had limited technology experience. I have used technology for typing papers and researching for assignments. I have a facebook account that I frequent and several email accounts, I access the internet daily and use my instant messager and gchat daily as well. While I have some exposure with technology I am not familiar with things I dont use regularly in my life and tend to be a slow learner.
